Program Details

This program is part of our larger 10-day In-Person Comprehensive Training Retreat (click to know more about the full retreat) 

We have a few spots open for people who would just like to attend the Science of Scar Tissue portion during the last 2 days. 

Please Note: If you are already registered for our 10-Day retreat, there is no need to re-register for this course, as it is already included in the full retreat.

 

Course Curriculum:

Theory:

  • Anatomy as relating to scar tissue
  • Primary systems of wound healing
  • Stages of wound healing
  • Healthy vs. Pathological scars & how to influence
  • Breast cancer vs. Gender affirming mastectomy - what's the difference?

 

Practical:

  • Target systems techniques (nervous, lymphatic, integumentary and fascial systems)
  • Immature vs. mature scars
  • Pathophysiological scars (Keloids & Hypertrophic)

Retreat Details

Spend 3 nights and 2 days immersed in your new community full of like-minded massage therapists intent on bettering their post-operative skills.

You will stay onsite at the Naramata Centre, nestled in the charming lakeside town of Naramata BC, surrounded by vineyards, lake and beaches. 

5 meals are provided throughout your stay, so you can be nourished in mind-and-body!

 

Arrival

  • Pick up at the Penticton Airport at 3 pm on Oct. 29 at 3 pm PST
  • Shuttle to the retreat centre
  • Grocery stop along the way to pick up breakfast supplies and snacks

 

Accommodation

  • Shared accommodation in rustic 4 BR suites. 
  • Two beds per room (one queen, one twin) with shared bathroom for each room
  • Full kitchen
  • Shared living room

 

Food

  • Dinner on night of arrival
  • Lunch/dinner the following two days, plus snacks, water, coffee, tea
  • We strongly suggest bringing breakfast supplies with you to prepare in the full kitchen in your suite, as there are limited options in the town nearby. 
  • We can accommodate some food allergies (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free)

 

Wrap Up Party:

  • Celebrate your new friends and retreat experience on Oct. 31 with a DJ after party, featuring a facilitated Ecstatic Dance journey!

 

Departure:

  • 9 am Nov. 1 morning shuttle back to Penticton Airport with the rest of the retreat participants 

 

Retreat Investment:

Investment is based upon course fees, food, transportation, retreat fees and room selection. 

Ultimately, room selection determines your final price, as there are two different size beds in each room, each with a different price point.

3 night, 2 days stay overall, with 5 meals provided. Roommates are assigned after booking, requests are taken into account where possible.

Eryn Price RMT

Eryn has been in the healing arts for about 25 years, 12 of which have been in massage therapy.  She has been instructing for over a decade and is passionate about bringing resources to underserved people.  A firm believer in people's capacity to cultivate resilience, she founded The Mastectomy Guide to support both patients and massage therapists navigating the impactful breast and chest surgery process. 

Cathy Ryan RMT

Cathy has been a long-time RMT in British Columbia, Canada and practicing for 32 years.  She is the co-author of the textbook "Traumatic Scar Tissue Management" along with Nancy Keeney-Smith LMT.  Cathy speaks all over the North American continent at conferences and symposiums, and has a passion for fascia and connective tissue.
