PROGRAM DETAILS

This in-person course is designed to help massage therapists better understand scar tissue and wound healing while developing practical, evidence-informed techniques for working safely and effectively with post-operative clients.
Through a combination of theory, demonstrations, and supervised hands-on practice, you will strengthen your clinical reasoning and build confidence adapting your work to the individual needs of each client.
COURSE CURRICULUM:
THEORY:
- Anatomy and physiology of the skin and connective tissue
- The stages of wound healing
- Scar tissue formation and maturation
- Factors that may influence healing and recovery
- Common scar tissue presentations and complications
- Clinical considerations, precautions, and contraindications
PRACTICAL:
- Visual and hands-on scar tissue assessment
- Evidence-informed scar tissue techniques
- Adapting pressure and treatment approaches
- Supporting mobility, comfort, and function
- Trauma-aware communication and informed consent
- Guided hands-on practice and instructor feedback

- Your registration includes a closing wrap-up party where we will celebrate the learning, connections, and experiences shared throughout the course.
ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation is not included. Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation for the duration of their stay.
We recommend booking early, as availability in and around Naramata may be limited.
TRANSPORTATION:
- Transportation is not included. Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Naramata and the course location.

ERYN PRICE RMT
Eryn has been in the healing arts for about 25 years, 12 of which have been in massage therapy. She has been instructing for over a decade and is passionate about bringing resources to underserved people. A firm believer in people's capacity to cultivate resilience, she founded The Mastectomy Guide to support both patients and massage therapists navigating the impactful breast and chest surgery process.
CATHY RYAN RMT
Cathy has been a long-time RMT in British Columbia, Canada and practicing for 32 years. She is the co-author of the textbook "Traumatic Scar Tissue Management" along with Nancy Keeney-Smith LMT. Cathy speaks all over the North American continent at conferences and symposiums, and has a passion for fascia and connective tissue.
